Changes to Microsofts European Volume Licensing Pricing are Significant, warns Blue Chip

5th June 2012

Businesses looking at implementing Microsoft products should be aware of imminent European-wide changes to the pricing policies of user licences on specific products and take immediate action to secure pre-price change subscriptions, says Microsoft Gold Partner, Blue Chip.

The IT specialist warns that the changes due to take place on July 1st to align non Euro price lists to the Euro for Microsoft’s volume licensing programmes in order to establish and maintain consistency and make pricing fair and equitable for all partners and customers across the EU/EFTA are ‘significant’, with increases of between 2.5% and 33.5%.

Anthony Green, Sales and Marketing Director, explains: “It is our duty to ensure customers know the implications of these changes and where possible, prepare any upcoming Microsoft projects or licensing requirements without delay.  As a Certified Microsoft Gold Partner with numerous competencies, we can secure current subscription prices for three years if businesses act now and subscribe before the cut off date. We are also offering a free consultation to help businesses to break down and fully understand how the changes will affect them in the longer term."

Final pricing for July is now available as of June 1st and price changes will come into effect on July 1st, 2012, showing that in the UK there will be an increase in £ Sterling prices ranging between 2.5% and 33.5%.

Green adds: “While certain Microsoft volume licensing agreements contain price protection clauses and will remain unaffected by any price increases for the duration of agreement, we have written to and are speaking with all our customers regarding those products which are affected.  The way in which businesses will be impacted depends on how their licences are currently purchased; we can help them understand the changes and find a more cost effective solution, where possible.”

Microsoft Licensing Programmes affected after July 1st are: Enterprise Agreement (Indirect Only); Enterprise Subscription Agreement (Indirect Only); Select; Select Plus; Open; Open Value; Open Value Subscription; Microsoft Online Services Portal (MOSP); SPLA; ISVR; Dynamics – Through order central from July 1st.  Price increases do not impact FPP Retail, OEM products or Academic UK volume licensing programmes at this time.

As a Microsoft Gold Partner, Blue Chip is offering local organisations a complimentary consultation to help businesses understand the impact of these significant changes. To book a free of charge consultation or for more information, please email us at or call 0845 034 7222.
